Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A search term entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its own results. Fayette County Criminal History does not keep or log those query terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor emails us, the message may be retained so a response can be prepared. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Servers and analytics tools may collect routine technical information when a page loads:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring website, when available
- Date and time of each visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers may aggregate that information. Browser controls can block cookies, although some website functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, secure, and improve the website
- Route search requests to the selected partner
- Measure which pages are useful
- Diagnose performance and technical faults
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Fayette County Criminal History does not own, maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official sources, including Fayette County Clerk of Courts, the Sheriff and Jail, Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside businesses power the search boxes. A query submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy. Those companies choose their own retention, processing, and sharing practices, which are beyond our control. Read the provider's policy before submitting personal information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Fayette County offices, Pennsylvania courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy rules apply. Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be received by:
- Search providers that process a visitor's query
- Analytics vendors that measure use and performance
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the information collected. No online system can be guaranteed secure, however, and this policy does not promise that a breach or unauthorized access can never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted when appropriate.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Pennsylvania consumer-protection law, including the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, 73 P.S. §§201-1 through 201-9.3, and laws in a visitor's home jurisdiction may provide rights or remedies. Subject to the law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about them
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of eligible information
- Opt out of processing when a governing law provides that choice
The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law governs access to qualifying government records. It does not turn this privately operated website into a government records custodian.
